As you know, Geneviève is on her way to Knoxville, TN today for her Destination Imagination competition. Her plans for today are to do a full school day and then leave on a bus to Knoxville around 4:30PM. They will be driving all night and making stops here and there along the way. There are activities planned throughout the week but her competition does not officially happen until Friday. I have placed the schedule below.
Garneau -CECCE Schedule:
DI offers a live stream of the event on line. You can access it here: DITV Livestream Page. I am not sure if they will show all the competitions live but it would be cool if they did. Last year, Paula Abdul was present for the closing ceremonies so it is a big deal. We all wish her the best of luck and hope her team does well.
On my front, it was a bit of a difficult weekend. I really wished I could have made it to North Bay for the long weekend but it was best that I did not. I was pretty tired and nauseous most of the weekend so it was a good decision to stay. To make up for it, I was thinking I could find a time in the next few weeks to go visit Mom. Also, I really would like to see my aunt Lorraine (my dad’s sister) who is in the Bay for a little while before she leave for the US. I have not seen her in decades so it would be good to spend a bit of time with her before she heads to go stay with her son and his family. While I was planning this potential visit with my Mom over the phone on Saturday, I thought I would talk to my cousin Tracy (aunt Lorraine’s daughter) to see if she was planning on visiting her mom in the next few weeks before she leaves. Tracy is in Montreal doing her doctorate in music as an opera singer at McGill. While I was doing all this planning, I ironically got a text from her to invite me to her doctorate recital next Saturday, May 28 in Mtl. That pretty much batched up all my plans for getting her to visit the Bay.
With this new event invite pending, I started to revamp my plans with Mom and my visit to NB. Tracy is an amazing opera singer so I always look forward to hearing her sing and I also know that Mom has been wanting to hear her sing for a while as it has been decades since the last time she heard/seen her. Maybe it was still fatigue/high from the Prednisone or heat stroke from the nice day we were having, but I got this crazy idea that Mom could come to Ottawa and I could take her to the recital. The effects I was feeling must have been really strong as I even told her to invite aunt Lorraine, aunt Rita and Uncle Frank (my father’s other sister and husband who have been hosting aunt Lorraine while in the Bay) to come too. I was not expecting them all to come and, luckily they not all are. Only Mom and aunt Lorraine are coming however when I called to talk about this plan, I actually spoke with Marc first, as he had just arrived at Mom’s place. Obviously still loopy, I mentioned what was going on to him first (ed. note insert hand slap to face here). I did not think he would actually come. It is a long drive from Toronto to Montreal and he is not a big fan of driving the 401. Oops, I definitely underestimated his family’s willingness to come. They will be meeting us in Montreal for the recital and stay the night at my place. Aunt Lorraine and Mom are expected to arrive late Thursday and leave Monday. My brother is only staying Saturday night so there is a bit of a reprieve there. Geneviève does not come back until late Sunday. It is going to be a busy weekend! I am still planning on going to Hockey Thursday night and band practice on Friday, dammit! If I convince Mom and aunt Lorraine to come to band practice, they will hear how “bad” I am and this will make Tracy’s recital that much better, right? Let me take one for the Bessette team.
Does anyone know/offer to clean a house, host and prepare meals on very short notice?
